WOMEN'S PRIZE SHORTLIST PREDICTION.

Ok, I have read all of the longlist bar three books so obviously I cannot include them in my prediction but I will list the six books which I hope and feel deserve a spot on the shortlist.

So in no particular order I would like to see,

FRESHWATER by Akwaeke Emezi. I believe that this book deserves a spot because of it's amazing originality. I have never read anything like it before and the writing and narrative are both phenomenal.

REMEMBERED by Yvonne Battle-Felton. If this book doesn't make it, I will be so disappointed. If Silence of the Girls was not in the longlist this may very well be my favourite to win.

SILENCE OF THE GIRLS by Pat Barker. This is the book that I feel deserves to win. I may be a bit biased because of my undying love for everything that involves The Iliad, but even without this love I feel that Barker has done an amazing job giving a voice to the characters who are integral to the Iliad but are never, or very rarely heard. Amazing book.

MILKMAN by Anna Burns. I feel that this will make the shortlist on the strength of it winning the Booker last year. I did enjoy it very much but not sure if I would have picked it personally.

NORMAL PEOPLE by Sally Rooney. The same goes for this book. I think that the power that comes with a Booker listed book will carry it through as well. However I think that it deserves its spot, it is a great book.

MY SISTER THE SERIAL KILLER by Oyinkan Braithwaite. This is the little book that has taken the literary world by storm. It seems to be the book that everybody is talking about. It has a great chance of winning the Tournament of Books after coming back as a zombie and it is all deserved. It's a smashing book.

I also think CIRCE by Madeline Miller has a good chance and I would love to see BOTTLED GOODS and GHOST WALL in the list as well, but alas there can only be six.
