Australia stays wet in prohibition vote.
Nov 30, 1920

Continuing moves around Australia for liquor prohibition had another setback today as Queenslanders voted to maintain the current system for the manufacture and sale of alcohol. In a compulsory poll, voters were given three options: State management of liquor, prohibition, or continuance of the present system. There was negligible support for the idea of State management of liquor and the ballot became a contest between wets and dries.
