Test's "Big Ship" returns to the fray
Feb 16, 2021

Australian Test captain Warwick Armstrong has had the last laugh at the Victorian selectors, who had the gall to drop him from the recent match against England because he had not turned up for practice against NSW.

The absence of Armstrong, who is noted for more for his tonnage than his tact - he weighs 20-stone plus and is appropriately nicknamed "The Big Ship" - upset fans who protested outside the MCG during the match. Anyway, today at the MCG he was back at the helm, leading Australia to its fourth win on end over England and scoring a hard-hitting 123 not out to boot.
